Overview

Registered in 2007, 'Caesar Salad' is a small hosta cultivar resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'Korean Snow' and *Hosta* 'Maekawa', with *Hosta* 'Elvis Lives' as the pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its medium green leaves with heavily rippled margins, broadly ovate shape with rounded bases, and deep waviness across the leaf surface.

In the Garden

'Caesar Salad' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small size makes it suitable for container cultivation, rock gardens, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other small woodland perennials that complement its variegated foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor regularly and apply control measures as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
