Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Minuteman' registered in 2001, 'Bunker Hill' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its unstable streaked foliage, which displays irregular patterns of blue-green and medium green on broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases. The leaves measure 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) long by 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, feature eight vein pairs, and have lightly wavy, flat margins with a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
'Bunker Hill' forms a mound-like clump reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Bunker Hill' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor foliage and apply controls as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
