Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Bubbatini' is a small, mound-forming cultivar derived from a golden yellow sport of *H.* 'Blue Dimples' crossed with *H.* 'Shining Tot'. It is visually distinctive for its low, dense habit and heavily textured, wavy blue-green foliage with a glaucous bloom on the upper surface.

In the Garden

'Hubbatini' reaches approximately 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter, forming a compact, fast-growing mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and is well suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its small size and tidy habit also make it an excellent candidate for container culture.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage regularly and employ barriers or repellents if necessary.
