Overview

Registered in 2007, 'Brave Attempt' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. Its most distinctive feature is the intensely blue-green leaf surface marked with yellow and creamy white streaking, bordered by a white margin.

In the Garden

'Brave Attempt' forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching approximately 18 to 24 inches in height and 24 to 36 inches in spread at maturity. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green tones are most pronounced, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded foundation plantings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Brave Attempt' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
