Overview

Registered in 2000, 'Brass Ring' is a large hosta derived from a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Neat Splash'. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with wide, flat, golden yellow margins that extend approximately 2 inches (5.1 cm) inward from the leaf edge.

In the Garden

'Brass Ring' forms a mound 20 inches (50.8 cm) tall and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its large, cordate leaves with a glaucous underside make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders. The green scapes, reaching 22 to 26 inches (55.9 to 66.0 cm) in height, bear flowers that complement the foliage without overwhelming it.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Brass Ring' is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
