Overview

Registered in 2003 by Winterberry Farms and J. Anderson, this giant sport of *Hosta* 'Sum and Substance' is distinguished by its large blue-green leaves with pale yellow margins. The leaf blade is broadly ovate with a cordate base, moderately cupped and corrugated, and bears a glaucous bloom on the underside.

In the Garden

Reaching 35 inches (88.9 cm) in height and spreading to 65 inches (165.1 cm) in diameter, 'Bottom Line' forms a substantial mound with a medium-fast growth rate. Its blue-green foliage with 0.75-inch (1.9 cm) wide, flat, pale yellow margins performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas. The generous leaf size and dense habit make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders alongside ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through routine monitoring.
