Overview

Registered in 1992, *Hosta* 'Border Bandit' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *Hosta* '81-8' (seed parent) and *Hosta* 'Halcyon' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its medium blue-green leaves with wide, creamy white, slightly rippled margins and a very shiny upper surface.

In the Garden

Mature plants reach approximately 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, making 'Border Bandit' suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging in shaded to partially shaded beds. Its small stature and compact habit also suit container cultivation. Companion plants might include other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
