Overview

Registered in 2005, 'Boogie Blues' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar derived from a seedling of *Hosta* 'Band of Gold' with an unknown pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its heavily corrugated, glaucous blue-green leaves with wide, pale yellow margins that are slightly rippled, creating a textured, bicolored effect.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms an upright, fast-growing clump reaching approximately 20 inches (51 cm) in diameter and 26 inches (66 cm) in height. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage holds its color and the yellow margins remain bright. The broad, deeply corrugated leaves with cordate bases and 14 vein pairs provide substantial textural contrast when paired with finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
