Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek through the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Bold Intrigue' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with creamy white to white margins and moderate corrugation. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 8 inches long and 6 inches wide, feature 8 to 10 vein pairs and a dull upper surface with a glaucous bloom beneath.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 15 inches in height and 25 inches in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its blue-green foliage with contrasting white margins pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The medium-sized habit allows for use in mixed shade borders or as a specimen in woodland gardens.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protection from deer and slugs may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
