Overview
Registered in 1999 by Paul Ruh, *Hosta* 'Bocka' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its intensely blue-green foliage with slightly rippled leaf margins and a compact, mounding habit.
In the Garden
'Hocka' forms a dense mound reaching 9.2 inches (23.4 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. Its small size and dull-surfaced leaves make it suitable for the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It pairs well with other small hostas or fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or tiarella.
Care Notes
Grow in typical hosta-growing zones in partial to full shade with consistently moist, well-drained soil. Water during dry periods and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring; like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing.
