Overview

Registered in 2009, 'Bluetini' is a small hosta cultivar derived from a golden yellow sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Dimples' as the pod parent, with *Hosta* 'Shining Tot' as the pollen parent. This cultivar is visually distinctive for its dense, mound-like habit and medium blue-green leaves with slightly rippled margins and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.

In the Garden

'Bluetini' reaches a mature diameter of 18 inches (45.7 cm) and a height of 8 inches (20.3 cm), forming a compact, fast-growing mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or dwarf astilbes. Its small size makes it suitable for container cultivation, rock gardens, or the front of shaded borders.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Bluetini' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor foliage regularly and employ control measures if needed.
