Overview
Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Blueberry Cobbler' is a small-sized hybrid derived from a cross between *H. 'Iwa Soules'* and *H. 'Blue Blush'*. The cultivar is visually distinguished by its medium blue-green, ovate leaves with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, slightly rippled margins, and a late September bloom period characteristic of its *longipes* lineage.
In the Garden
'Blueberry Cobbler' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials. Its small size makes it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
