Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Striptease' registered in 2000, 'Blue without You' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its intensely blue-green leaf centers with greenish-gold margins. The leaves are ovate with flat margins and rounded bases, and the plant produces blue-green scapes 24 to 30 inches (61.0–76.2 cm) tall.
In the Garden
'Blue without You' reaches a mature spread of 28 inches (71.1 cm) and a height of 18 inches (45.7 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the leaf color remains truest. Its compact size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or containers, and it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small shade perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges; slugs may damage foliage, and deer may browse the leaves in typical hosta-growing zones.
