Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Ambrosia' registered in 2016, 'Blue Perfection' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its intensely blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces and lightly wavy, slightly rippled margins. The ovate leaves, with cordate bases and 12 to 13 vein pairs, reach 11 inches (27.9 cm) in length and 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) in width, forming a substantial mound 24 inches (61.0 cm) tall and 54 inches (137.2 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Blue Perfection' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where its glaucous coating remains most pronounced. Its large mound and rapid growth make it suitable as a specimen or in mass plantings in woodland gardens and shaded borders, where it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The medium blue-green scapes, reaching 30 to 41 inches (76.2 to 104.1 cm) in height, bear fragrant flowers that add late-season interest.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slug and deer resistance is not absolute, the thick, glaucous leaves offer moderate deterrence in typical hosta-growing zones.
