Overview

Registered in 2001, *Hosta* 'Blue Music' is a large, slow-growing cultivar of the Tardiana group, distinguished by its heavily streaked, blue-green leaves with irregular gold margins. The foliage emerges yellow-green and matures to a streaky blue-green, with leaf margins ranging from 0.6 to 7.6 cm wide and varying from blue-green to yellow, often with a slight ripple.

In the Garden

'Blue Music' forms an upright clump reaching approximately 91 cm in diameter and 52 cm in height, with leaves 27 cm long and 21 cm wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and is well-suited to woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as a specimen plant. Its large, boldly variegated leaves provide strong contrast when paired with ferns, heucheras, or fine-textured shade perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Blue Music' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
