Overview
Registered in 1972 by F. Brownell Woodroffe, this medium-sized cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Tokudama'. It is distinguished by its blue-green foliage with blue-gray margins and prominently veined leaves, forming a dense, rounded clump.
In the Garden
'Blue Lagoon' performs best in partial to full shade, reaching a mature size of approximately 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. Its compact habit suits it for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as a groundcover beneath deciduous trees. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and *Tiarella*.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed. This cultivar is hardy in typical hosta-growing zones.
