Overview
Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Blue Hour' is a giant hosta of unknown parentage, distinguished by its intensely blue-green, heavily corrugated leaves and near-white flowers. The cultivar forms a substantial mound of broadly ovate, lightly cupped foliage with slightly rippled margins and a dull surface on both sides.
In the Garden
'Blue Hour' reaches a mature diameter of 48 inches (121.9 cm) and a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where its blue coloration is most pronounced. The large, textured foliage pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials; its size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, corrugated leaves offer some resistance to slugs, though monitoring is advisable in damp conditions; deer may browse the foliage.
