Overview

Registered in 1988 by E. Smith and the British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society, 'Blue Dimples' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from the *H.* Tardiana Group. It is distinguished by its blue-green leaves with a dimpled or puckered surface texture and a compact, mounded habit.

In the Garden

'Blue Dimples' reaches 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height and spreads to 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the middle to front of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its moderate size also suits container plantings in shaded patio areas.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. While typical hosta-growing zones are appropriate, note that the blue-green leaf color is best preserved in shade; slugs and deer may cause damage and should be managed as needed.
