Overview
Registered in 1982 by K. Anderson, this small blue-green hosta forms a compact mound with glossy, slightly undulate leaves. Its distinctive features include blue foliage with a glossy upper surface and a relatively upright scape that rises to the height of the leaves.
In the Garden
'Hosta Blue Arrow' reaches 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and spreads to 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders or rock gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature perennials. Its compact size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges; this cultivar shows typical resistance to deer but may be susceptible to slug damage on its glossy leaves.
