Overview
Registered in 2011, *Hosta* 'Blind Date' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict' as the pod parent. It is visually distinguished by its large, light green leaves with pale yellow, slightly rippled margins, forming a dense, mound-like clump.
In the Garden
'Blind Date' performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas. At maturity, it reaches approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 56 inches (142.2 cm) in diameter, making it suitable as a mid-border specimen or groundcover in woodland gardens. Its broad, wavy leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas with high pest pressure.
