Overview

Registered in 1993, 'Bingo' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar derived from a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Tokudama Aureonebulosa'. Its most distinctive feature is the broad, 1.5-inch (3.8 cm) leaf margin that transitions from medium gold to creamy white, contrasting sharply with the medium green leaf center.

In the Garden

'Bingo' forms a substantial clump reaching 31 inches (78.7 cm) in diameter and 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height. The leaves are 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) long and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with cordate bases, slightly rippled margins, and 11 vein pairs. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath. This cultivar performs best in partial to dappled shade, where its variegation remains most stable. It pairs well with other medium-sized hostas and shade-tolerant perennials such as ferns or heucheras.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Bingo' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent. It is suitable for cultivation in typical hosta-growing zones.
