Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Margie's Angel' registered in 2010, 'Billy Bob Angel' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green foliage with a pronounced glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces. The leaves are ovate with rounded bases, measuring 9 inches long by 7.5 inches wide, and feature dark green flat margins with 11 to 13 vein pairs.
In the Garden
'Billy Bob Angel' forms a moderate-growing mound 36 inches in diameter and 18 inches tall, with scapes reaching 24 to 30 inches. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the glaucous bloom is most pronounced. The medium-sized mound of dark green foliage pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials; its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed borders.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Billy Bob Angel' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
