Overview
Registered in 2013 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Brigadier', 'Big Point' is a large hosta distinguished by its medium green leaves with broad, flat golden yellow margins. The ovate, lightly corrugated foliage measures 11.5 inches (29.2 cm) long and 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) wide, with six vein pairs and a slightly shiny upper surface.
In the Garden
'Big Point' reaches a mature clump diameter of 30 inches (76.2 cm) and a height of 18 inches (45.7 cm), with scapes extending to 28 inches (71.1 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen plant or in mixed shade borders. The gold-margined leaves provide contrast when paired with green-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
