Overview
Registered in 2015 as a streaked sport of *Hosta* 'Grey Cole', 'Big Beauty' is a giant cultivar distinguished by its very broad creamy white margins—approximately 5.1 cm wide—contrasting with a blue-green leaf center. The leaves are nearly round with cordate bases, lightly corrugated, and bear a glaucous bloom on the undersides.
In the Garden
'Big Beauty' forms a substantial mound 76.8 cm tall and 139.1 cm in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and should be given ample space to reach its full spread. The broad variegation provides strong contrast in shaded borders or woodland gardens; companion plants with fine-textured foliage, such as ferns or *Heuchera*, complement its bold leaves.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Big Beauty' may be susceptible to slug damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
