Overview

Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster, *Hosta* 'Best Yet' is a medium-sized variegated cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with slightly rippled margins, a lightly cupped and corrugated form, and a compact, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

'Best Yet' forms a dense, rounded mound 16 inches (40.6 cm) tall and 30 inches (76.2 cm) wide, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hostas, and its good substance and clumping habit make it suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a groundcover. The medium size and ovate leaves with cordate bases pair well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Best Yet' may require protection from slugs and deer in areas where these pests are prevalent.
