Overview

Registered in 2013, *Hosta* 'Bellevue' is a medium-sized cultivar bred from the pod parent *H.* 'Missouri River' and the pollen parent *H.* 'Dewed Steel'. It is visually distinguished by its blue-green, lance-shaped leaves with dark green, slightly rippled margins, a glaucous bloom on the undersides, and red-speckled scapes combined with red petioles.

In the Garden

'Bellevue' performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and reaches a mature spread of approximately 38 inches (96.5 cm) with a height of about 18 inches (46.7 cm). Its upright growth habit and moderate leaf waviness make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in woodland gardens. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and shade-tolerant *Geranium* species.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. 'Bellevue' exhibits a fast growth rate and is moderately resistant to slugs, though standard preventive measures are advisable in damp conditions.
