Overview
Registered in 1991 by P. Ruh, this large blue-green cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta hypoleuca*. 'Azure Snow' is distinguished by its substantial, heavily textured leaves with undulating margins and a blue-green coloration that persists well into the growing season.
In the Garden
'Azure Snow' reaches a mature spread of approximately 31 inches (79 cm) and a height of 15 inches (38 cm), making it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in partly shaded beds. It performs best in typical hosta-growing zones with morning sun or dappled light, where its blue tones are most pronounced. The large, corrugated leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade perennials that contrast in texture.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage in damp conditions, though the thick leaves are somewhat resistant; deer will browse the plants if accessible.
