Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Edge of Night' registered in 2002, 'Awesome Illusion' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by dark green leaves with white margins that produce unstable streaks of yellow and creamy white. The leaf blade is nearly round with a rounded base, moderately corrugated, and slightly shiny above with a dull underside.
In the Garden
'Awesome Illusion' forms an upright clump reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for the middle of a border or as a specimen in a shaded bed.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, particularly on the new foliage in spring.
