Overview
Registered in 2013 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Allen C. Haskill', 'ASPIRE' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with broad, creamy white margins. The leaf margins are flat, slightly blue-green, and measure 0.25 to 0.5 inches (0.6 to 1.3 cm) wide, while the leaf center is creamy white, creating a reverse-variegated appearance.
In the Garden
'ASPIRE' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, and is well-suited for small garden spaces, rock gardens, or container plantings. Its small size and tidy habit make it an effective edging plant or ground cover in shaded borders.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'ASPIRE' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas with high pest pressure.
