Overview
Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Arch Duke' is a giant blue-green cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its very large, broadly elliptic leaves with medium green margins, a dull upper surface, and a glaucous bloom on the underside, creating a subtle two-tone effect.
In the Garden
'Arch Duke' reaches a mature size of 26 inches (66.0 cm) in height and 50 inches (127.0 cm) in diameter, making it suitable as a bold specimen or focal point in partial to full shade. Its substantial leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in texture or color. Due to its giant stature, it is not suited for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be required in areas where these pests are prevalent.
