Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek for the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Annie' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinguished by its ovate, blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom and a 1.3 cm (0.5 in) wide margin that transitions from golden to creamy yellow, combined with a lightly wavy, moderately corrugated texture.
In the Garden
'H Annie' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 81.3 cm (32 in) in diameter and 25.4 cm (10 in) in height. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where its blue-green foliage and contrasting margins hold color well. The medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded containers, and it pairs effectively with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
