Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Angel' registered in 2005, 'Angel Harp Strings' forms a large mound of blue-green foliage with heavy, rippled margins in yellow, creamy white, and green shades. The leaves are broadly ovate with cordate bases, lightly cupped and moderately corrugated, with a glaucous bloom on the undersides and a slightly shiny upper surface.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches approximately 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter and 23 inches (58.4 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate and a dense, mound-like habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials that complement its multicolored margins. Its substantial leaf substance and thick foliage make it a reliable specimen for the middle to back of a shaded border.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. The thick leaves provide some resistance to slugs, though standard preventive measures are advisable in damp conditions; deer may browse the foliage in areas with high pressure.
