Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, *Hosta* 'Angel Feathers' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from a selfed cross of *Hosta* 'William Lachman' and a sibling. The plant is visually defined by its blue-green leaves with broad, slightly rippled margins that transition from golden yellow to creamy white, and by a distinctive juvenile phase where leaves appear longer and more ruffled.
In the Garden
'Angel Feathers' forms a moderate-growing clump reaching 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height and 35 inches (88.9 cm) in diameter, with a slightly upright habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, where its variegated margins remain stable. The medium size suits placement in mixed shade borders or as a groundcover under deciduous trees, pairing well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Angel Feathers' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor accordingly in typical hosta-growing zones.
