Overview

Registered in 1999 from unknown parentage, 'Amy's Green' is a small, mound-forming hosta distinguished by its variegated leaves with medium green margins and a dull upper surface contrasting with a very shiny underside. The leaves measure 6 inches (15.2 cm) long by 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide, with seven pairs of veins and a rounded base.

In the Garden

This compact cultivar reaches 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and spreads to 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, forming a neat mound suitable for the front of borders or rock gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small shade perennials. Its small size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
