Overview
Registered in 1998, this medium-sized cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Pearl Lake' and *Hosta* 'Tucker Pucker'. 'Alston Glenn' is distinguished by its heavily rippled, very shiny blue-green leaves with cordate bases and a dense, mounding habit.
In the Garden
Reaching 33 inches (83.8 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, this moderate-growing hosta forms a substantial mound suitable for mid-border or specimen placement. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials. Its heavy leaf texture and shiny surface make it effective near paths or patios where foliage detail is appreciated.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing, so protective measures may be necessary in high-pressure areas.
