Overview

Registered in 2004 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Allegiance' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its medium green leaves with broad, creamy white margins. The foliage is broadly ovate with a rounded base, flat profile, and slightly rippled edges; the leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with eight vein pairs.

In the Garden

'Hosta' forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with other shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, and astilbes. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may feed on the foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
