Overview
Registered in 2005 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Antioch', 'All Star' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its variegated leaves that display streaked white, dark green, light green, and yellow patterns. The ovate leaves have yellow, slightly rippled margins approximately 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) wide, with 10 vein pairs, and measure 10 inches (25.4 cm) long by 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) wide.
In the Garden
'All Star' forms a mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical for hostas, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant. Its medium size and upright scapes make it appropriate for pairing with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'All Star' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
