Overview
Registered in 2006, this small hosta cultivar originated from an unnamed streaked seedling with unknown pollen parent. 'Aidan Bryden Cleghorn' is visually distinguished by its dark green leaves with pale yellow margins, a broadly ovate shape with cordate base, and moderately corrugated, flat leaf surfaces.
In the Garden
Reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter and 9.5 inches (24.1 cm) in height with a moderate growth rate, this small hosta is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
