Overview
Registered in 1970 by Mrs. John Geissler, 'Ahamo Gold' is a large hosta of unknown parentage. Its leaves are green with chartreuse (gold) margins, and the plant forms a substantial mound.
In the Garden
'Ahamo Gold' reaches 11 inches (27.9 cm) in height and spreads to 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its large, rounded leaves with contrasting margins pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The scape rises 20 inches (50.8 cm) above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage, particularly in shaded, moist garden areas.
