Overview
Registered in 2006, 'Academy Lemon Knoll' is a medium-sized hosta of unknown parentage with *H. 'Julie Morss'* as its pod parent. The cultivar is visually distinctive for its strongly viridescent foliage: emerging leaves are bright yellow-green, maturing to light green with slightly rippled margins, and the plant forms a dense, mound-like habit.
In the Garden
'Academy Lemon Knoll' reaches approximately 14 inches in height and 40 inches in diameter at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the viridescent leaf coloration develops most reliably; in deeper shade, the yellow-green emergence may persist longer. The light green scapes, reaching 17 to 22 inches, bear flowers typical of the species. This cultivar pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade perennials that contrast with its bright early-season foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
