Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Stardust', registered in 2010, 'Typhoon' is a large hosta distinguished by its medium green leaves with broad, pale yellow margins. The flat, broadly ovate leaves measure 10 inches (25.4 cm) long by 7 inches (17.8 cm) wide, with 11 vein pairs and a dull surface on both sides.
In the Garden
'Typhoon' forms a mound-shaped clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its light variegation provides contrast when paired with darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed borders, though it is not recommended for containers due to its mature dimensions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Typhoon' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor accordingly.
