Cookie Policy
Last updated: 14 May 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies The Hosta Farm uses, why we use them, and how you can manage or withdraw your consent. For the wider picture, see our Privacy Policy.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies let a site remember preferences (such as your language or consent state) and let advertising networks measure ad performance.
Cookies we use
Essential (always on)
- Consent state — records your IAB TCF v2.3 consent string so we don't ask again on every page load.
- Language preference — remembers if you switched to Spanish or German.
These cookies are required for the site to function and are not used to build advertising profiles.
Analytics (set after consent)
- Google Analytics 4 (
_ga,_ga_*) — aggregated, IP-anonymised page analytics. Retention: 14 months.
Advertising (set after consent)
- Google AdSense (publisher ID
ca-pub-4205179226797001) — personalised and non-personalised ad serving, frequency capping, and click attribution. - Funding Choices CMP — Google-certified Consent Management Platform handling the IAB TCF v2.3 consent signal.
Optional (only if you interact)
- Pinterest — set when you use the Pinterest save button on a recipe or cultivar page.
- MailerLite — set if you submit our newsletter form, used only for delivery analytics.
How we get your consent
On your first visit (or after consent expires) you'll see a banner asking you to accept, reject, or manage cookies. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you grant permission. Essential cookies are always set, in line with ePrivacy/GDPR exemptions.
How to change or withdraw consent
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time:
- Click the Manage consent link in the site footer.
- Clear cookies for thehostafarm.com in your browser settings — the banner will reappear on your next visit.
- Opt out of personalised Google ads at google.com/settings/ads and via youronlinechoices.com.
Do Not Track
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where it is sent by your browser — analytics and advertising cookies are not set when GPC is active.
Changes to this policy
If we change the cookies we use, this page is updated and the "Last updated" date at the top reflects the change.
