Overview
Registered in 1999 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Piedmont Gold', 'Tyler's Treasure' is a large hosta cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with wide, yellow, slightly rippled margins. The leaves measure up to 9.5 inches long and 8 inches wide, with 13 to 14 vein pairs, a rounded base, and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 24 inches in height and 48 inches in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and is suitable for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant. Its substantial size makes it appropriate for mid-border placement, where its gold-margined foliage provides contrast against darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
