Overview
Registered in 1987 by Paul Aden, this medium-sized cultivar arose from a cross with *Hosta* 'Embroidery' as the pod parent and an unknown pollen parent. 'Two Step' is visually distinctive for its bright green leaves with broad, undulating gold margins and upright growth habit.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 24 inches (61 cm) and height of 18 inches (46 cm), 'Two Step' forms an upright clump suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. The 9-inch-long leaves, with four vein pairs and prominently undulating margins, provide textural contrast alongside finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its medium size makes it appropriate for both garden beds and larger containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through routine monitoring or protective measures.
