Overview

Registered in 2010, 'Twirlatini' is a small hosta cultivar resulting from a cross between a gold sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Dimples' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Shining Tot' (pollen parent). The cultivar is visually distinctive for its compact mound of medium blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces and moderately wavy margins, producing a textured, bluish mound.

In the Garden

'Twirlatini' forms a mound 8 inches (20.3 cm) high and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade, as typical for blue-leaved hostas, and performs well in the front of borders, rock gardens, or as an edging plant. Its small size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation, and it pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Twirlatini' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate management may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
