Overview
Registered in 1995, 'Tucker Wave' is a miniature hosta resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'Kabitan' (pod parent) and a *Hosta* 'Neat Splash' seedling (pollen parent). Its distinguishing features include very shiny, dark green leaves with narrow, light green, slightly rippled margins and a flat leaf base.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for variegated hostas, and its miniature size makes it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants might include small ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Tiarella*.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, particularly during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
