Overview

Registered in 1993, 'Tucker Top Cat' is a small hosta cultivar derived from a cross between a *Hosta* 'Herifu' seedling (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Happy Hearts' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with medium green, slightly rippled margins and a very shiny upper surface.

In the Garden

This small hosta reaches approximately 11 inches (27.9 cm) in height and 21 inches (53.3 cm) in diameter, forming a compact mound suitable for the front of borders or rock gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for variegated hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small woodland perennials. Its small size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. 'Tucker Top Cat' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
