Overview
Registered in 1993, this small hosta cultivar originated as a sport of *Hosta* 'Golden Prayers'. 'Tucker Irish Heart' is distinguished by its variegated foliage: dark green, slightly rippled leaf margins with a cordate (heart-shaped) base, a slightly shiny upper surface, and a dull underside.
In the Garden
Reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and spreading to 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter, 'Tucker Irish Heart' is suited for the front of a shaded border or rock garden. Its small size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Pair with other small, shade-tolerant perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella* for textural contrast.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
