Overview
Registered in 1981 by G. Harshbarger, this large hosta cultivar arose as a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Tokudama Aureonebulosa'. It is visually distinctive for its broad, heavily textured green leaves with chartreuse to gold margins, forming a dense, rapidly expanding mound.
In the Garden
'Hosta' 'Treasure' reaches a mature spread of approximately 40 inches (102 cm) and a height of 20 inches (51 cm), making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its large, puckered leaves provide strong contrast when paired with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or astilbes. The plant's rapid growth rate allows it to fill space quickly, though its substantial size may limit suitability for small containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad, tender foliage is attractive to both pests.
