Overview

Registered in 1995 by J. & J. Wilkins, *Hosta* 'Tranquility' is a sport of a seedling derived from *Hosta* 'Aspen Gold'. It is distinguished by its medium blue-green leaves with medium to deep gold margins, a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, and a slow, mound-like growth habit.

In the Garden

This medium-sized cultivar reaches approximately 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, forming a dense, rounded mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins hold their color without scorching. The blue-green center and gold edge provide contrast when paired with dark-leaved heucheras or ferns; its moderate size also suits the front of a shaded border or a woodland garden.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
